About Cashmere Casa
Cashmere Casa was born from the vast, windswept steppes of Mongolia—a land where nomadic herders have cared for cashmere goats, yaks, and camels for generations. Our founder, Dagiijanchiv Jamts (Dagii), grew up in a family of herders, surrounded by the natural fibres that would one day shape her life’s work.
As a young girl, while others played outside, she spent her time designing and sewing garments at home. That early passion grew into purpose, and in 2007 she opened her first small factory in the basement of her home in Ulaanbaatar.
Years later, after completing her Master’s in E‑Business Technology at the University of Ottawa, Dagii blended tradition with innovation to create Cashmere Casa—a bridge between Canadian consumers and Mongolian artisans.
Today, Cashmere Casa brings the world’s finest natural fibres to Canada, offering clothing that is not only luxurious, but meaningful, ethical, and built to last.
Our Story: From Mongolia to Canada
Dagii first came to Canada in 2005 and immediately felt at home. The cool evening breeze reminded her of Mongolia’s whispering winds. She returned in 2010 as a student, determined to build a better future for her daughter, Gungaa.
Despite arriving with limited English, Gungaa excelled—graduating high school with honours and now studying Business at the University of Ottawa. Together, mother and daughter have overcome challenges, built a life in Ottawa, and recently celebrated becoming Canadian citizens.
Opening a boutique in Hintonburg was a dream come true for Dagii; yet her vision extends far beyond running a store—she hopes to share the richness of Mongolian culture, craftsmanship, and natural fibres with her new community.
What We Stand For
Sustainability
We believe in slow fashion that respects people, animals, and the planet. Our fibres are ethically sourced from nomadic herders who have practiced sustainable grazing for centuries.
Craftsmanship
Every piece is handmade using heritage techniques passed down through generations, combined with modern design and quality standards.
Empowerment
We proudly support Mongolian herders, artisans, and women‑led businesses. Your purchase directly uplifts small, locally owned workshops in Mongolia.
Why Natural Fibres Matter
At Cashmere Casa, we believe clothing should feel good—on your skin, in your heart, and for the planet. Our fibres include:
Cashmere – ultra‑soft, breathable, and naturally insulating
Yak Down – warmer and more durable than cashmere
Camel Wool – lightweight, strong, and beautifully warm
Sheep Wool – soft, versatile, and perfect for everyday wear
These fibres are so fine that a shawl can pass through a wedding ring—yet strong enough to last for decades. This is a cherished piece of legacyclothing, designed to be passed down through generations.
Unlike synthetic fast‑fashion, natural fibres biodegrade, reduce waste, and support sustainable livelihoods.
For those seeking something truly personal, Cashmere Casa offers custom‑made garments crafted by skilled Mongolian artisans. Whether you want a bespoke sweater, shawl, or coat, we bring your vision to life with unmatched quality.

Amazing! The softness and luxury of their gloves and mittens has transformed and elevated my life on a daily basis. My friend gave me their cashmere gloves as a birthday gift. Those gloves have given me daily joy since fall, and I also went and got the thicker mittens to welcome winter. They have a beautiful variety of sweaters and other clothes and accessories in cashmere and a range of other natural fabrics. Their customer service is friendly and genuine, and I feel that this store is an ideal destination for gifts and for items for oneself that have a “forever” feel to them. This store is a treasure.

I was having a coffee on Wellington Street watching those first snowflakes falling and I remembered that I needed a warm sweater for the coming months. I’m a senior and Ottawa damp cold really gets to me. I passed Cashmere Casa and was attracted by the window display, but I was hesitant to enter. . Cashmere? For me? But I decided to take a look and it was a great decision. I was greeted by the very friendly owner, She showed me several men’s sweaters in a variety of styles and colors. I chose one well within my budget. It was so comfortable and fit well. As it was quite chilly outside, I left it on and I’m glad I did. I. What a wonderful feeling it was to walk out in the winter air and feel the warmth that the cashmere sweater provided. The best purchase I’ve made in a long time and I’ll be back to get some Christmas gifts. Oh yes, I got a pair of cashmere socks as well and they are indescribably comfortable.

A Message From Our Founder
“The first time I came to Canada, I felt the breeze and thought, ‘ this feels like home.
I admire Canada for its equality, kindness, and respect. As a single mother, I wanted my daughter to grow up in a place where she would be valued.
I am grateful for the friends who became family, for the opportunities this country has given me, and for every customer who supports our dream.
From my heart — thank you.” — Dagii, Founder of Cashmere Casa
